* Flood Warning for...
northwestern Edgar County in east central Illinois...
northeastern Moultrie County in central Illinois...
Piatt County in central Illinois...
central De Witt County in central Illinois...
Vermilion County in east central Illinois...
southeastern McLean County in central Illinois...
Champaign County in east central Illinois...
northern Douglas County in east central Illinois...

* until 115 PM CST Wednesday

* at 120 am CST, Doppler radar continues to indicate light to
moderate rains across central and east central Illinois. This
additional rainfall will cause flooding, especially in low lying
areas. Rainfall estimates in this area range from 3.50 inches to
4.50 inches over the past 24 to 36 hours.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Champaign, Danville, Rantoul, Monticello, Tuscola, Urbana, Savoy,
Mahomet, Hoopeston, St. Joseph, Georgetown, Tolono, Westville,
Tilton, Villa Grove, Arthur, Catlin, Farmer City, Fisher and
Bement.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 57 between mile markers 207 and 257.
Interstate 72 between mile markers 157 and 182.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 152 and 219.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

the Vermilion river near Danville.
* From this evening until Friday morning.
* At 615 PM Tuesday the stage was 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 23.4 feet by early Thursday morning.The river will fall
below flood stage by early Friday morning.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois, east central Illinois, and
southeast Illinois, including the following areas, in central
Illinois, Christian, Macon, Piatt, and Shelby. In east central
Illinois, Champaign, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar,
Moultrie, and Vermilion. In southeast Illinois, Clay,
Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland.

* Until 6 am CST early this morning

* additional rainfall amounts less than 1 inch are expected early
this morning across eastern Illinois. Much of the area has
already received 1.5 to 3 inches since Monday morning especially
north of I-70, with as much as 4 to 5.5 inches over parts of
east central Illinois.

* This additional rainfall will cause flooding of area rivers
and streams across central through east central Illinois.
Ponding of water on low roadways and near ditches is also
likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be
alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to
flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.
